Tracey Welcomes Thameslink and Southeastern Rail Franchise Consultation

The Government has recently announced that the process to let the Thameslink rail franchise will begin shortly.  According to Passenger Focus, changes to the franchise map will affect those who use Southern, Southeastern & Fast Capital Connect services.

With a public consultation expected to take place in the spring, rail users will have the chance to express their views on the proposed changes.

Tracey says: “With the tender process for the Thameslink and Southeastern rail franchises drawing ever closer, I welcome the opportunity for passengers to take part in the consultation process. Given the increased length of franchises, combined with the significant redrawing of the franchise map, it is absolutely essential that passengers are fully consulted throughout this period.”

Key Points

The official notice states that the next Thameslink franchise will include all services that are currently operated by the First Capital Connect Franchise from September 2013.

Between April and December 2014, the franchise would also include some services currently operated by Southeastern railway.

At a point between July 2014 and July 2017 the franchise will also include all services operated by the current Southern railway franchise.
