Tracey Welcomes First ‘Outstanding’ CQC Report for Medway Care Home

Wednesday, 21 October, 2015

Tracey has welcomed the news that Avante Care & Support’s care home in Amherst Court in Chatham has recently received an ‘Outstanding’ rating from the Care Quality Commission.

Amherst Court offers care for older people living with dementia. CQC inspectors gave an ‘Outstanding’ after examining the home’s responsiveness and leadership and a ‘Good’ for safety, caring and effectiveness, setting an overall rating of ‘Outstanding’ for the home. Since the CQC began rating adult social care services under their more rigorous style of inspection in October 2014, only eighteen care homes providing dementia care in the whole of the UK have received their top rating of ‘Outstanding’, with only two care homes in Kent achieving this. Amherst Court has now proudly become the first care home in Medway to achieve an ‘Outstanding’ rating from its recent inspection. The report, which can be found here was based on an unannounced inspection on the 20th and 22nd May 2015 by the Care Quality Commission.

Tracey said: “Staff at Amherst Court in Chatham should be proud of their hard work and commitment in ensuring a safe and caring environment, which has been recognised by the CQC.

Getting the first ‘Outstanding’ rating in Medway from the CQC’s rigorous new inspection regime is a testament to their dedication in delivering a service which prioritises dignity, responsiveness and respect for its residents, their carers and families.”

As a thank you to residents, relatives and staff for their support during the CQC inspection there will be a celebration party on Friday 20th November at Amherst Court which will also mark Avante Care & Supports 25 years of providing care and support across Kent and South East London.
