Tracey Unveils Defib for Aylesford Football Club

Friday, 23 October, 2015

In her ongoing campaign in support of getting more defibrillators in the local community, Tracey has supported and recently unveiled the defibrillator for the Aylesford Football Club thanks to South East Water’s Community Chest Fund.

South East Water donated £1,000 to the football club for the lifesaving equipment, and joined Tracey last week to official unveil it at the Clive Evenden Pavilion.

Tracey said: “Sudden cardiac arrest can happen to people of all ages at any time, however having a defibrillator to hand can dramatically increase the chance of survival to up to 75 per cent.

“After beginning a campaign to get defibrillators into the local community, I have since secured a defibrillator for all secondary schools in the constituency who wanted one, a local rugby club and two for Snodland and Burham which can be accessed around the clock.

“I am keen to continue promoting the benefits and importance of easy access to this equipment, especially at sporting facilities, and will be working on securing more community defibrillators across the constituency and the entire country.”

Zoe Verhaeren-Roper, South East Water’s Health and Safety Advisor said: “Safety and wellbeing is important to South East Water and we also have this specialist equipment installed at our main offices.

“It was the joint decision of our Community Chest Fund judging panel, made up of employees from across the business, to support Aylesford Football Club and the health and safety of its members now and in the future.”

Clive Evenden, Club Secretary at Aylesford Football Club, said: “We are absolutely delighted with the donation from South East Water and are grateful to our local MP, Tracey Crouch, for her support.

“We hope we will never have to use the defibrillator but it gives us peace of mind that we have one for our players.”

South East Water’s Community Chest Fund is still open for applications from local charities and community groups until 31 October. For more information, view the criteria and make an application visit
