In support of the campaign for more community defibrillators, Tracey is encouraging everyone to make use of the AED Locator site to check and be aware of where they can access a heart defibrillator in the case of a cardiac emergency. A Sudden Cardiac Arrest victim’s chance of survival increases significantly from around 5% to 75% if they receive good CPR combined with therapy delivered by a Heart Defibrillator within the first 3 minutes.
The AED Locator website is dedicated to promoting the placement of Public Access defibrillators (PADs) with 24 hour access so that lifesaving emergency defibrillators are available to everyone whenever they are required when a Cardiac Arrest Is suspected.
Having secured defibrillators in all secondary schools in the constituency who wanted one, a local rugby club and two local football clubs, along with two public community defibrillators that can be accessed 24/7, Tracey is keen to ensure everyone is aware of these locations, as well as all the other areas in the constituency and across the entire UK where you may have access to PADs.
Tracey said: “It is not only vital that we are working to increase the number of community defibrillators around the UK but even more so that we are publicising their whereabouts so that they can be put to use and help save lives in such emergencies. This is why I am encouraging all my constituents to make use of the AED locator site and familiarise themselves with the PAD locations.”
If you know of a defibrillator that is not listed on the locator website, please submit the form on the website here.
