Tracey Meets With Cancer Research Ambassador

Phil Wilson, 52, is an ambassador for Cancer Research UK and was keen to meet with Tracey to discuss the charity’s ‘The Answer Is Plain’ campaign. The campaigncalls for all branding to be removed from tobacco packaging for the reason that striking logos and distinctive packet designs can make cigarettes more appealing to children.

Tracey said: “It was a pleasure to meet Phil again, who is an excellent campaigner for improved local cancer services and who I have spoken with on a number of occasions on various issues.  I was grateful to Phil for taking time to go through Cancer Research’s campaign on plain packaging.  I am pleased to see that the Government has today (5 July) announced an extension to the consultation on plain packaging due to the high number of responses”

Professional musician, Phil said: “I’m delighted to have spoken to Ms Crouch about Cancer Research UK and ‘The Answer Is Plain’  campaign. So many people’s lives are touched by cancer and I hope Cancer Research UK can help stop children from taking up this deadly addiction.”

Smoking is the most important preventable cause of cancer and is responsible for one in four deaths from the disease in the UK.
