Tracey Joins Elderly for Lunch

Friday, 12 February, 2016

Tracey recenelty visited the lonely and elderly  ‘Lets Do Lunch’ club in Larkfield.

The lunch club is held at the Dorcas Centre, inside the Brookfield school, on Swallow Road, Larkfield from 11am to 1.30pm every Thursday.

It is an initiative from the Dynamic Future Together Community Interest Company, and is supported by Churches Together in Malling, who provide funding, volunteers and a minibus for transport.

The club relies on volunteers and voluntary donations from attendees to subsidise the service, however, has previously recieved community grants from Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council, the Tonbridge & Malling Senior Forum and the Tonbridge & Malling District Partnership Group to help them continue to serve the community.

Tracey said: “It was a real pleasure to give my support and join the ‘Lets Do Lunch’ club last week. The club not only provides excellent value for money in a fun and friendly environment, but it also ensures that the most lonely in our community can get a chance to get out and socialise with similar elderly people in the community they would otherwise not get a chance to meet. The club is a really enjoyable afternoon and I am thrilled that the number of attendees has increased to 32 since it was first launched in 2014. I would encourage anybody who is, or knows of local elderly people in the local area, to pop along!”
