Tracey is encouraging people in and around Medway to help raise awareness for Parkinsons by getting involved in the activities planned for the campaign week between 18th- 25th April.
Every hour, someone in the UK is told they have Parkinson’s – a brain condition that turns lives upside down, leaving a future full of uncertainty. We know that Parkinson’s can make people feel frightened, isolated and alone. Together we can bring forward the day when no one fears Parkinson’s and everyone affected by the condition will feel more able to take control and live life to the full in a ‘Parkinson’s friendly’ society.
In Medway, there are two active Parkinson’s UK groups: the Medway Towns Branch and the Working Age Group. Both groups have activities planned for Parkinson’s Awareness Week, 18th -24th April 2016, and Tracey is encouraging the Medway public to join in with the fun at the various awareness events. It’s about raising funds but it’s also about telling people about this condition, how it affects both those who have it and their friends and families, and where and how to access the support that can make life that little bit easier.

Friday 22nd is one of the “big” days in Parkinson’s Awareness Week as it has been designated as the day to “Use Your Head”. Parkinson’s UK are asking people all over the Medway Towns to get involved by making a small donation to wear something smart, stylish or downright silly on their head for a whole day! Whether you wear a funny hat, don some bunny ears or even sport a tinsel wig, there’s something everyone can do. They would love it if schools, clubs, offices and shops across Medway would join in and “Use Their Head” for a day. Don’t be surprised if you walk into your local accountants and find the staff in stunning titfers!
