Tracey Appointed Chair Of The Medway Physical Disability Partnership Board

The Physical Disability Board was set up in 2008 to provide a forum to raise issues across Health and Social Care relating to people with a physical disability. The Board aims to improve and develop services for people with a physical disability.

Members of the Board include directors of adult social care, physical disabilities service managers, service providers, representatives from voluntary/local organisations, members from NHS Medway and service users.

Tracey said: “The Physical Disabilities Board is an excellent way to scrutinise and hold the Council accountable for its disabled services. The Board has proven a great success in representing the views of the disabled in the past and I look forward to chair and support the Board in the future”

The Board has had some significant achievements, mainly due the active involvement of service users. Examples include the provision of wheelchair scales across Medway, the provision of gym equipment and an instructor specifically for those with a disability. The Board has also been involved in consultation regarding policy changes and takes a keen interest in issues such as wheelchair commissioning, parking, and blue badge provision.

The Board is currently planning a sport disability taster day on Thursday 23rd August at Medway Park from 10am-4pm.
