Tracey has visited Radio Caroline – the Boat the Rocks!

Tracey, an already acknowledged supporter of Bradfields School and Tim Loughton, (MP for East Worthing & Shoreham, and Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Children & Young Families) visited Bradfields School in Chatham last Thursday.

Last week Tracey presented a certificate to the Royal British Legion Industries to celebrate their recognition as a new member of Social Firms UK. Tracey presented the certificate to Edwin Boorman, chairman of the RBLI and said in a short speech that this: “is an exciting new dawn for the RBLI and a great example of positive recognition within the big society”.

As a keen football enthusiast Tracey lavished the chance to attend Lordswood Football Club charity penalty competition yesterday in the aid of Red Nose Day. The event raised somewhere in the region of £400 for the charity.

I pledged my support to a campaign aimed at making bus travel easier and safer for blind and partially sighted passengers, and other sensory impaired people, at an event organised by the charity.

I saw first hand the role community pharmacy plays in delivering expert public health services with a free blood pressure check at the House of Commons recently. The event, attended by over 40 MPs and Lords, was organised by leading community pharmacy chain Lloydspharmacy, in partnership with British Heart Foundation, and aimed to raise awareness of the importance of regularly monitoring your blood pressure.

Last week I tabled a parliamentary motion calling on Ofcom to release a Medium Wave frequency for Radio Caroline to use in the South East. The station is by far one of the most well known radio stations in the world, is a cornerstone of British radio history, has had 2 current MPs DJ on it, and unbelievably will celebrate its 50th birthday in 2014.

On Friday 19 November I chaired a public meeting for residents of Holborough Lakes with the Manging Director of Berkeley Homes, the development company behind the estate. Interestingly, the vast majority of people I’ve spoken to who live on the estate love their property and are very happy with the building spec.

I have received numerous complaints from constituents regarding the high costs of travel and what is an unacceptable standard of service from Southeastern Rail. As a result of this I wrote to Southeastern Rail regarding their recent performances and fair increases. In the letter I spoke of the feelings of constituents who had contacted her, referring to how, many of them, “feel aggrieved at the added cost to their travel, they are equally concerned at the level of service they can expect in return and as such, have raised with me a number of particular issues.”  The details of these are clearly outlined in her letter, which can be accessed by the link below.
